Welcome to the Troop 589 Web Site!

For information on Chaska area Cub Scout Packs CLICK HERE

Troop 589 is located in the Southwest suburbs of the Minneapolis area and includes members from Chaska, Chanhassen, Victoria, Carver, Eden Prairie, and Shakopee and other nearby cities.

When a boy joins Troop 589, Scouting becomes an extension of their family: Scouting follows strong moral values, we see to the overall care and well-being of your son, and we are always there for them. It’s not an either/or choice for your active family and your son. We work with you to let you manage your time and other activities and will always be there for you and your son when you return. We have many Scouts that are involved in in-house, traveling, and high school sports teams, band or music programs through the school or privately, drama and acting, etc., which all take time as well. Yet many of these Scouts are on their way to Eagle, or have attained Boy Scouting's highest rank.

New and prospective Scouts and their parents will find a wealth of information about the Boy Scouts of America program in general and Troop 589 in particular here at our web site. We welcome you to explore the available information and invite you to personally visit our Troop meetings. We typically meet the first 3 Tuesdays of the month at The Center for Faith in Life on the Mount Olivet Rolling Acres church campus at 7150 Rolling Acres Road, Victoria.

We look forward to meeting you and hope you choose to join our Troop!

Troop Annual Planning Campout

Posted on Jul 20 2016 - 9:16pm

Hello Troop,

Well it's that time of year again, back to school is right around the corner and that means it's time for our Troop to do our annual planning for the Scouting year.  This year we are looking to take our planning and creativity up a notch as well as increasing the boy leadership aspects of the process.  To that end, we've decided to do an overnight campout to plan the year out.

Zach Crumpton's Eagle Project - July 9, 2016

Posted on Jun 13 2016 - 9:37am

To all Scouts, Eagle Scouts, and Leaders of Troop 589....

I have chosen to support PetsLoyal2Vets (www.petsloyal2vets.org), a community-based organization connecting US Military Veterans with PTSD or TBI throughout Minnesota with trained therapy companion dogs to veterans at no cost. My goal, in supporting their cause, is to build 20 raised dogs beds (see picture) and provide 20 baskets with supplies such as leashes, collars, toys, and treats for the Veterans and their trained dog.  I will be presenting these to them with intention for PetsLoyal2Vets to use as a gift to the Veterans and their dogs upon completing the training course.
